Terms of service
Last updated: 8 September 2026
These terms govern the use of this website and the services Shiny Studios provides. Individual projects are also covered by a written proposal and scope, which takes precedence over these terms where the two differ.
Using this website
You may read, share and link to anything on this site. The content, design and code of the site itself remain our intellectual property and may not be reproduced wholesale without permission.
We take care to keep the information here accurate, but it is provided for general guidance. Nothing on this site is a binding offer, and prices are indicative until confirmed in a written quotation.
Quotations and scope
Every project begins with a written proposal setting out the scope, deliverables, timeline and a fixed price. That price holds for the scope described. Work you request outside it is quoted separately and only begins once you have approved it in writing.
Quotations remain valid for 30 days unless stated otherwise.
Payment
- The payment schedule for your project is set out in your written quotation and agreed before work begins. Fees are normally split across the project rather than paid entirely in advance.
- Invoices are due within the period stated on the invoice.
- Late payment may attract statutory interest and recovery costs under the Late Payment of Commercial Debts (Interest) Act 1998.
- VAT is charged where applicable, as stated on your quotation.
Your responsibilities
Projects depend on timely input. You agree to provide content, access, approvals and feedback within the timescales set out in the proposal. Where delays on your side push a project beyond its agreed window, we may need to reschedule it around other commitments, and will tell you promptly if so.
You confirm that any content you supply (text, images, logos, data) is yours to use, or that you hold the necessary licences.
Intellectual property
On final payment, ownership of the bespoke code, designs and content we produce for your project transfers to you. Third-party components remain subject to their own open-source or commercial licences, which we will identify.
We retain the right to describe the work in our portfolio and to reference you as a client, unless you ask us in writing not to.
Warranties and support
We will correct defects in our work, free of charge, for 30 days after launch. This covers faults in what we built; it does not cover changes of requirement, content edits, or problems caused by third-party services or by changes made by others.
We do not warrant any particular search ranking, traffic level or commercial outcome. Search engine results are outside anyone’s control.
Liability
Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
Subject to that, our total liability arising from a project is limited to the fees you have paid us for it, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, including loss of profit, revenue or data.
Cancellation
Either party may end an engagement in writing. You remain liable for work completed and costs committed up to that point; anything already paid beyond that is refunded.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction.
