Local businesses

Working with Chester businesses

Chester businesses often serve two quite different groups: people who live nearby and use you every week, and visitors who have never heard of you and are deciding on their phone. A good site has to work for both.

Many also cover a wide area, from the city out to villages like Tarvin, Kelsall and Tattenhall, and often across the border into Flintshire. We build sites that make it clear where you work and what you do, load quickly on a phone, and are easy to keep up to date. The price is fixed and agreed before we start.

Who we build for

  • Independent shops

Retailers in the city centre and on the Rows who want people to find them, see what they sell and know when they're open.

  • Hospitality and tourism

Cafés, restaurants, B&Bs and tour businesses that need to show up when visitors search on the day.

  • Trades covering the villages

Builders, electricians, gardeners and cleaners working across the city and the rural villages around it.

  • Health and beauty

Clinics, therapists and salons in Hoole, Boughton and the city centre that rely on local bookings.

  • Professional services

Accountants, solicitors and consultants who need a credible site that explains what they do in plain English.

  • Rural and venue businesses

Farm shops, wedding venues and countryside businesses whose customers travel to them from further afield.

Local search

Getting found in Chester

What matters when people search for a business like yours in Chester.

  • Visitors decide on their phones

Chester draws visitors all year round. When they search for somewhere to eat, shop or stay, they're usually already in the city, on a phone. A site that loads quickly and shows your hours and location straight away wins those customers.

  • Your customers are spread out

Many Chester businesses serve the city, the surrounding villages and parts of North Wales. Searches like “electrician Tarvin” or “cleaner Saltney” are less competitive than city-wide ones, and clear area information on your site helps you show up for them.

  • The border affects search

Google treats places on either side of the border separately. If you work in Broughton, Deeside or Mold as well as Chester, your site and Google Business Profile should say so explicitly.

  • Reviews carry a lot of weight

When people are choosing between businesses they don't know, reviews often decide it. Your site should make it easy to leave one and show the ones you already have.

Local SEO

Built to rank locally

Every site we build has the technical basics local search depends on.

  • Pages for your services and the areas you cover, based on what people nearby search for
  • LocalBusiness structured data, so Google can read your location, areas and hours
  • The same name, address and phone details on your site as on your Google profile
  • Fast loading on mobile, tested on a phone connection rather than office broadband
  • Search Console set up, so you can see which searches bring people to your site

Keyword research and local Google setup are included from the Professional package upward, and Premium adds Google Business Profile help. If you only want the local work done on a site you already have, see our SEO service.

Google Business Profile

For a Chester business, your Google Business Profile is often the first thing a visitor sees, before they ever reach your website. Your hours, photos, reviews and category matter a lot, and Google checks them against your site, so the two should match exactly.

If you visit customers rather than having them come to you, you can hide your address and list the areas you cover instead, including places over the Welsh border.

On the Premium package we help you set up and tidy your profile. On any package, we make sure your site matches it.

How we work

Our process

You’ll know what’s happening, what it costs and what we need from you at each stage.

  1. Understand

We start by talking about your business: who your customers are, what they need to know, and what you want the site to do.

  2. Structure

We plan the pages and what goes on each one. Agreeing this before design starts saves a lot of revisions later.

  3. Design & build

We design and build together, so what you approve is what gets built.

  4. Launch & measure

We put the site live and set up Search Console and analytics. A few weeks later we check how it's performing.

Chester FAQ

Questions from local businesses

You're based on the Wirral. Can you work with a Chester business?

Yes. We're a short drive down the M53, so we can meet at your premises. If you'd prefer video calls and email, that works too. Either way, you'll deal directly with the people building your site.

We get customers from both sides of the Welsh border. How should the site handle that?

List the places you cover on both sides clearly, on your site and in your Google Business Profile service areas. If you'd like Welsh-language pages as well, we can build them, with the translation supplied by you or a translator. We'd quote that separately.

We're a trade business in a village outside Chester. Is a website worth it?

Usually, yes. Village searches have much less competition than city ones, so a clear site listing the places you cover can bring in steady enquiries. Paired with a Google Business Profile that lists your service areas, it helps people nearby find you rather than a bigger firm further away.

Our business is busier in the summer. Does that change anything?

It's a good reason to keep your opening hours, seasonal offers and events up to date on both your site and Google. Small text and image changes are included in our Website Care plans, so you don't have to do it yourself.

How much does a website cost for a Chester business?

Our packages are £595, £995 and £1,795, each a one-off fee with VAT included. Website Care plans for hosting and upkeep are optional, from £39 a month. The pricing page lists exactly what is in each one.
